Second suspect in Kanawha City larcenies wanted by police

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Police have one person in custody and a second person they are searching for in connection with a string of larcenies in Kanawha County.

Charleston Chief of Detectives Lt. Steve Cooper said Tonya Ramsey, 39, and her ex-husband Billy Ramsey, 39, stole personal items from homes in the Kanawha City area.

The couple allegedly stole jewelry, firearms and other items during Open House events, which they then pawned.

Tonya Ramsey has been taken into custody and is charged with two counts of felony grand larceny. Billy Ramsey remains on the loose and police have issued a felony grand larceny warrant for him.

Cooper said they believe more victims are out there, they just are not aware they lost something.

“So hopefully when the public sees the pictures of the individuals that we’ve arrested and are looking for, then they may check their valuables to make sure nothing is missing from their home,” he said.

At this time the couple is being charged in connection with two homes, but Cooper said they are investigating other similar incidents.

Police believe the crimes were drug related and add that Tonya Ramsey has a previous drug history.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Billy Ramsey is urged to call the Charleston Police Department. They believe he may still be in the area.
