Teenager killed in Hampshire County wreck

PURGITSVILLE, W.Va. — State Police said the teenager killed in a car wreck on Route 220 Friday morning was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Troopers said the 17 year old girl was from the Purgitsville area.

Reports indicated she was driving south on Route 220 when her 2002 Hyundai Elantra sidewiped a tractor trailer heading north.  A second tractor trailer that was in the northbound lane then hit her vehicle as it spun out of control.

State Police said the drivers of the Kenworth trucks, both from Virginia, were not hurt.

The accident happened at about 6:45 a.m. Friday.
