Martinsburg (8-1) at Musselman (4-4), 7 p.m.

The Bulldogs had no trouble against Jefferson last week, thumping the Cougars, 54-13, and putting three touchdowns on the board in the first seven minutes.

Camdan Shade, again filling in for the injured Trevon Wesco, threw for the lone score for the Applemen at Washington last week.

Martinsburg is ranked second in Class AAA this week and will have a bye next week before heading into the playoffs.

Musselman has ground to make up: they’re in 20th, 1.625 points behind Hurricane for the last playoff spot.

Washington (5-3) at Hampshire (6-2), 7 p.m.

Both teams buoyed their playoff hopes with big wins last week: Washington took care of Musselman, 21-7, with Colin Gustines scoring all three touchdowns, and Hampshire came all the way back to defeat Hedgesville, 50-34, on the road.

Hampshire sits in 12th, while Washington is 13th.

Frankfort (7-1) at Keyser (5-3), 7 p.m.

Frankfort got back on the winning track with a 52-20 win over Petersburg last week thanks to 135 yards and three touchdown through the air from junior quarterback Gage Shaffer.

Keyser comes off of a bye last week, the first time they’ve ever had one right before the heated Mineral Bowl rivalry.

This trophy’s been Keyser’s to lose lately: Frankfort’s victory in 2009 is their only one since 2003.

Frankfort is ranked fifth in Class AA, while Keyser bobbed up to 11th.

Hedgesville (4-4) at Jefferson (4-4), 7 p.m.

Hedgesville’s allowed 40 or more points in four straight games, and, without Troy Markley’s offensive wizardry, that’s resulted in three straight losses after a four-game winning streak. They’ll be tested Friday by Jefferson’s strong passing attack, which was blunted by Martinsburg last week.

Jefferson is 21stin Class AAA, while Hedgesville is 22nd. A loss kills the playoff hopes of either school.

Pendleton County (2-6) at Moorefield (7-1), 7:30 p.m.

Moorefield had a bye last week and look to extend their winning streak to six against a Wildcats squad that’s dropped six straight.

The Jackets are fifth in Class A.

Petersburg (3-5) at Tucker County (5-3), 7:30 p.m.

The Vikings have alternated wins the last six games after an 0-2 start; they lost at home to Frankfort last week, 52-20.

Tucker County’s struggled to put points on the board: their 21-18 win over Pendleton County matched their second-best output of the year. At the same time, they’ve allowed single digits on defense in five of eight games.

Tucker’s 15thin Class A entering play this week.

East Hardy (6-2) at Clear Spring, Md. (2-6), 7 p.m.

East Hardy were shocked by Berkeley Springs last week, their second straight loss after a perfect start. Now down all the way to 14thin Class A, this is a must-win for the Cougars.

Clear Spring became the answer to a trivia question last week: who was the first team to lose to Spring Mills?

Berkeley Springs (1-7) at Northern Garrett, Md. (2-5). 7 p.m.

The Indians ended a losing streak dating back to September 16, 2011 with a 26-8 defeat of East Hardy last week thanks to a balanced rushing attack of Preston Hovermale (103), Brady Tritapoe (84), and Michael Kearney (71).

Play that well again, and they may have a shot at Half-Mile High Stadium against a talented but undermanned Northern team, who lost to Allegany (Md.) last week, 47-27.

Spring Mills (1-7) at Southern Garrett, Md. (2-6), 7 p.m.

The Cardinals’ suffering ended last week with a 21-14 win over Clear Spring, building a 14-0 halftime lead on scores by Demetreus Jalepes and William Sweeney; Sweeney added an insurance score in the second half.

Southern lost to Mountain Ridge (Md.) last week, 36-17, their third straight defeat after two mid-season wins.
