Body found in Beckley identified as missing Charleston man

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A body found in Raleigh County late last month has been positively identified as missing Charleston man Kareem Hunter, said the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.

The body was found in a shallow grave on Oct. 30 along Old Turnpike Road near Beckley.

The remains were sent to the state Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy was performed. The results were released Tuesday confirming the body was that of Hunter.

Hunter had been missing since Sept. 23. A murder investigation has been underway since then.

Police have arrested Kelsey Legg, 19, of Marmet, and charged her with murder in the case. She allegedly lured Hunter to her apartment where he was killed by two other men.

The investigation is ongoing.
