VIENNA, W.Va. — A Wood County woman is in police custody after allegedly hiring someone to kill her husband.¬†

Parkersburg Police

Amy Mayhugh accused of hiring someone to murder husband.

Parkersburg police arrested Amy Yvonne Mayhugh, 41, of Vienna, Wednesday evening after an all-day investigation into an alleged murder for hire plot.

Police said a cooperating individual gave them information regarding the potential plot which then prompted an investigation.

Through the investigation, detectives learned that Mayhugh wanted to have her husband killed for the
purpose of collecting insurance money. Investigators were able to recover evidence allegedly supporting those findings.

The cooperating individual also told police that Mayhugh gave them a Rolex watch as partial payment for going through with the plot.

Mayhugh was arrested without incident at her 16th Street home in Vienna. She is charged with solicitation to commit murder. She was awaiting arraignment Wednesday night.

I knew both of them for about 22 yrs, Amy looks nothing like herself in her pic, I don't believe she was am addict, Keith is a good guy, and amy is like a sister to me. I'm floored, the last visit I had with them a few yrs back Keith and I had way to many beers, I can remember keith stating he wanted to make sure Amy was taken care of in case something happend to him, mentioned he was in bad health and didn't think he had many yrs left! I thought they were both happy, I feel bad for keith and hope Amy gets the help she needs, she always was a sweet girl, she lost her way somehow....prayers for the family...

so glad I don't live in the Parkersburg area any more with friends like you. Instead of talking bad about the woman, you should be praying for her soul. What she did was totally wrong, but she still has a soul that needs to the Lord and prayed for. Heaven help you if any one of you fall from grace the way her SUPPOSED friends are talking about her.

thank you Steve. People are so judgemental and do NOT Know what even happened. Agreed! need to pray for the family...

But know this, that ain the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.

      Profound and scary.

I continue to be shocked and angry about the total decline in our society in terms of morals and the sense of what is right and what is wrong. We have become totally fixated on "self" and if "self" wants something, then there is no right or wrong - all that matters is getting what "self" wants.

10 to 1 she is an addict.

Not that I know of, but apparently a good actress and devil in disguise.

life seems to be cheap these days and getting cheaper by the moment. you talk about a ice cold hollow thankful she was caught before the fact.

Now she can have a 20 year relationship with a nice, clean prison inmate. I believe Bertha is her name.

  • Larry

She has a very sinister look about her.

Dear Lord! I've known her husband for over 15 years. He is a close friend to my father. Great, great guy... would do anything for a neighbor or a friend. I've been to that house numerous times--have chatted with that woman during every visit. Totally floored when I learned about it earlier this evening.

The greed of some people is absolutely amazing. Throwing a 20-year relationship (10 years married) away so you can collect on his life insurance. Completely pathetic and cold-hearted. Hope you rot, Amy.

      Are there children?

      • Belinda M.

yeah, they have no children thank god, that would have made this even worse.

        • Larry

And you never heard her say anything like "I really wish my husband was dead", or "If I could only find someone to kill my husband for me", nothing like that?

        • Big Dave

No children? They should have plenty of money.

I wonder if there's a younger bf she wanted to run off with.

OMG we have been friends for so long with Keith and I worked with Amy at MT State Blue Cross Blue shield. We have been to their home and Loved them dearly for over 20 years. I am still in shock and worried about keith. I never saw this coming and wished I still worked at the North Central Regional Jail right now. I hope she does not fail the Psychological eval when she gets there and is placed not on suicide watch but in the pod with the other women. She will get her's there (at least what she deserves). I am so in shock right now. OMG

      • Evan S.

Keith and Amy have no children.
