CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Two people were killed Wednesday in separate traffic accidents on opposite ends of Interstate 79 in West Virginia.
The first wreck may have been caused by black ice at around 8 a.m.
Deputies with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department identified the victim as James Hoover of Big Chimney, the driver of the vehicle that lost control while crossing an interstate bridge over Little Sandy Creek.
A 13-year old boy passenger in the vehicle was seriously injured in the wreck that happened shortly before 8 a.m. He was said to be in stable condition at CAMC General on Wednesday evening.
The second wreck took place at about 10 a.m. on I-79 near the Goshen Road exit in Monongalia County.
State Troopers said a man died after his car flipped several times after running into the back of a truck. The truck had moved into the man’s lane of traffic.
The victim died at a Morgantown hospital. His name has not been released.
