Deal reached between Cabell Huntington Hospital and union

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. Union workers at Cabell Huntington Hospital avoided a strike Wednesday, approving a new three-year labor agreement.

Service Employees International Union District 1199—representing 800 licensed practical nurses, lab workers, and service and maintenance personnel—voted in favor of the new labor contract with the hospital just 48 hours before the strike deadline.

The details of the contract have not been released.

A tentative agreement was reached Wednesday morning between the union and the hospital after contract talks resumed Tuesday.

Last week the union rejected a previous contract offer and issued a 10-day strike notice that was due to take effect Friday if an agreement wasn’t reached.
