Woman charged with Boone County man’s death pleads guilty

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Hamlin woman charged with murdering an elderly man in Boone County has admitted her guilt.

Maura Shea Perry, 20, pleaded guilty Thursday to first degree murder in the September 26 shooting death of 27-year-old Jimmy Cooper.

Perry shot and killed Cooper while he was sleeping in his bed inside his Peytona home.

Perry faces up to 15 years to life in prison when sentenced on December 12.
