Man hit and killed by train in Kanawha County

MARMET, W.Va. — A man is dead after being hit by a CSX train Sunday in Kanawha County.

It happened around 4 a.m. Sunday on the railroad tracks on 98th Street in Marmet.

Dispatchers said a CSX engineer called and reported hitting a man who was sitting on the tracks.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

Police are currently looking into why the victim was sitting on the tracks.
