Victim identified in Westover deadly fire

WESTOVER, W.Va. — The name of the man killed in a house fire in Westover has been released.  The State Medical Examiner has identified James William Smith, 25, as the victim of Friday morning’s fire.

Assistant State Fire Marshal Mackey Ayersman said the fire started in the front left bedroom of the two-bedroom house on Parkview Drive.  Crews were called to the scene just before 7:30 a.m. Friday morning.  It took crews about an hour to get the fire under control.

The cause of the fire is still unknown but it does not appear to be suspicious.
