HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. — U.S. Senator Jay Rockefeller said Tuesday a national training center in Harpers Ferry is going to become a full-service training campus.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recently awarded a contract to build a 250-room student dorm and student center at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Advanced Training Center.
Sen. Rockefeller said more than 12,000 frontline Customs officers training at the facility each year. He said providing dorms and a student center will save money in training and travel expenses.
“The addition of dormitories and a student center will help transform the facility into a full-service training campus for its students,” Rockefeller said.
The work is scheduled to be completed in 2016. The current training building was completed in 2007.
