A few years back, I was at the Auburn game in Morgantown and was tailgating in the blue lot. A family walked by us dressed in their Auburn orange and blue. It was a young man, his wife and two young daughters ages about 8 and 10. All of a sudden some drunk student runs up to them and yells at them to get out of here before he F'ed his wife and raped his kids. I was horrified. So was everyone standing around. I beat the snot out that drunk punk student that day. Other than honoring Pat White on his senior night, I have only returned to the blue lot on a couple occassions.
Disgusting boorish fan behavior is the norm on Game Day in Morgantown. Every time I go to a game, I regret going because of some drunk fan ruining the game experience.

Wvcoal, I think you are absolutely right that the only reason the big 12 brought us in was as a sacrificial lamb to their perennial bottom dwellers. Now they have a sub par team to beat up on to help them appease their fans. And to you guys who are downing Marshall; at least they can finish the season with their heads held high as they head for a bowl.
November 19, 2013 at 10:28 pm |
Looked as if they played with effort to me. Just when the bad gets worse what can you keep playing your heart out for, when your every opportunity becomes a failure. Starts under center. have to have a leader for this team to function. No offense for anyone trying to be that guy.Next year starts with Iowa St. Lets Goooo!!!!...

There are many WVU fans who are only interested in getting drunk each weekend and then taking their frustrations out on Marshall University and their fans...
But from what I have seen, both Marshall and their fans seem to be doing fine at the present.
Unlike WVU, they are going to bowl game and are in position to win their league championship.
They are doing very well thank you very much...
So just keep getting drunk every weekend and burning couches and everyone will get along just fine...
Oh one more thing...if you want things to improve at WVU...

And the Herd sure has played so many of the top teams. Tell us again who they beat this year that was so great. Was any of the Herds loses to a top 10 team?
November 22, 2013 at 12:20 am |
There are many Marshall fans like yourself who don't have any good things to post about your own team, so you spend all your time reading and posting on WVU articles. Marshall fans like yourself really prove just how much more relevant WVU is than MU and even at a time when WVU is having a bad year.
Keep on posting Big Larry! You are this site's favorite troll!

I am a MU fan..I can and do post all kinds of good things about my team. I also post a lot on WVU forums...I try to stay subjective if possible. Anyway, regarding the 0-12 and the BCS games, if you want to go there, that is fine, not trying to make a jab but unfortunately for WVU fans, that is the only place to live right now (the past)...the present and future does not look very bright...0-12...oh well...other than a few games..most of those games were during the "rebuilding" crappy years MU fans had to suffer through (like WVU is doing now)..nobody knows if MU/WVU would play this year who would have won..and who cares...I have my own speculations on how that game would have played out..but that doesn't matter much either...conference championships and BCS games are a thing of the past for WVU, at least in the foreseeable future....DOC has been turning around the MU program a little each year with his recruits and we are just now turning the corner...as a MU fan...I really hope DOC stays around for a long while....I used to root against WVU, I am over that now, no ill-will wished...I will keep tabs on WVU, but my heart is with MU.

And you are who again???
November 19, 2013 at 9:20 pm |
And how many times has your beloved Herd beaten WVU in football? And how many teams with winning records has the Herd beaten this year? And how many BCS Bowl games has Marshall played in/won?
That answer big larry is a fat 0! Even fatter than you are.

Again, your just plain silly. We will buy the tickets and the product on the field will be improved next year. I do not attend the games to get drunk and the people around me do the same. We enjoy college football good or bad. Must keep the program going and hope for a brighter future. Have been through this before. Seen the ups and downs since the fifties. True Mountaineer fans.....buy the tickets and we will have a great time next year...I will enjoy a Marshall victory..Huntington is a great sports town. Go Mountaineers...

Say what you will about Marshall, at least they have plans for the holidays.
November 19, 2013 at 2:12 pm |
Okan, I agree with you. I think what they need to do is have more "Crowd Control" personnel at the game. I too am embarassed at the way many of the fans behave at home games.
Trust me it's no place to bring young adults.
And it seems like the school really doesn't care to address the problem. Maybe it's because the folks making these kind of decisions are sitting up in their cushy lounge boxes and are oblivious to what's going on in the stands.
November 19, 2013 at 2:03 pm |
Those people who make those decisions only care about ticket and beer sales. They could care less about the drunken atmosphere they have created and how it may affect young children...
Just "Show Me The Money"

We don't need to be worried about any other school but WVU. That's the problem, we don't see the embarrassing problems we have in the stands in front of small kids and families. Drunks everywhere cursing and shouting, and visiting fans seeing all this mess. Yeah, we have more than a football problem; we have an overall image problem at home games ! Beer in the stands is no good !
November 19, 2013 at 1:57 pm |
I have been to every home game but three since 1961, including four of those years as a student. I have not and currently DO Not see this. There are idiots in every crowd, but 99% of our fans represent us we'll at home and on the road your hyperbole and attempt to create drama are not supported by fact. Then again that probably doesn't bother you.

Troll is back
Yeah that just started happing right? How about the batteries and trash cans being thrown at visiting teams, how about the Maimi player that had trouble getting across parking lot from stadium to hospital in an ambulance because of WVU fans? Stop trying to gig everything about WVU people are really starting to reach over 1 losing season.

Thank you Dana...

Larry -- You are a SAD, SAD and bitter man. Your life as a Marshall fan has left you unfulfilled. There is plenty of room on the Mountaineer Team Bus, even for a malcontent such as yourself. Why don't you jump on board and enjoy the ride for a change...even if it gets a little bumpy, the worst day of being a Mountaineer Fan is better than the best day of being a Marshall fan.
November 19, 2013 at 1:31 pm |
Wrong...I am a Happy Happy Happy man....
But I will be so much happier when the get rid of the 3 stooges...Luck, Holgorsen and Huggins...
And did I mention...?
"QUIT BUYING TICKETS"
November 19, 2013 at 9:23 pm |
Larry, you say that because no one buys tickets to Marshall games. They never fill their stadium.
November 19, 2013 at 10:41 pm |
I agree. Marshall seems to have "Come Dressed as a Seat Night" promotion for every game.
November 21, 2013 at 1:54 pm |
It's even more sad to be a Marshall fan who always comments on WVU articles.
LOL at you Big Larry!
November 19, 2013 at 1:10 pm |
Here's another takeaway -- WVU was brought into the Big 12 to be cannon fodder for the competitive teams and to allow the perrenial cellar-dwellers like Kansas and Iowa State to escape with a win every once in awhile.
WVU happily obliged Kansas.
If you haven't noticed, Iowa State has not won a conference game yet this year. Why not just cave and give them a "W" too. WVU wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings....right?...right!?
November 19, 2013 at 1:09 pm |
Lets see in the next 2 years WV will be getting around 30 million plus a year from being in the B12. that alone does not sound like a loser to me. How much did Marshall get? How much will the winner of the New BEast get?
November 22, 2013 at 12:29 am |
well said,,, we definitely haven't improved on any phases
total def,,,100th,,,, total off. 73rd,,
coaches salaries,,,simply unreal, and they will get raises each yr.
deforest, 500 grand per yr... simply a waste of money but he is holgies puppie dog.

It's no secret that the WVU football program has fallen on hard times. I am shocked, stunned, dumbfounded and totally dismayed at what I witnessed Saturday in Lawrence Kansas.
Yes…The WVU Mountaineer Football team has crashed to earth in spectacular fashion.
Losing at Maryland was bad enough, but then getting trounced by Baylor like they did was unthinkable.
But to make matters worse, the last two losses are going to be considered “bad losses” in the eyes of the WVU faithful. Dropping a game to Texas like we did is forgivable; but losing to Kansas was not…Losing to Kansas is not forgivable!
The severity of this beat down to Kansas will be remembered as epic. Even the most ardent WVU fans and Holgorsen sympathizers were shocked. Most fans had no idea what they were about to witness last Saturday afternoon. Seinfeld's Jackie Chiles would describe it as "...annihilation, devastation, humiliation."
Yes…It was ugly folks. This beating was so horrific, that it probably set back the WVU Football program 5-10 years. Doubt it not. Losing to Kansas like we did was that bad.
November 19, 2013 at 12:16 pm |
It is a SAD SAD day to be a Mountaineer Football Fan...
>>>Wherever you may be!
November 19, 2013 at 12:18 pm |
It could be worse. We could be Marshall fans just like yourself.
November 19, 2013 at 1:08 pm |
So if it is so bad to talk trash about another school, then why did you just sink to that level?
November 20, 2013 at 7:26 am |
I'm doing good....
November 19, 2013 at 2:33 pm |
I guess you're doing as good as a troll can be considering the fact that your favorite team is still 0-12 all time against WVU. And considering the fact that you read and post on every single article about WVU, that makes you a truly sad and pathetic human being.
WVU will bounce back. They always have. That's why it's great to be a Mountaineer fan, but you Big Larry will always be a no good Marshall fan troll.
Live with that!
November 19, 2013 at 4:28 pm |
But more sad to be you.
