Harrison County prosecutor running for WV House

CLARKSBURG, W.Va.– Harrison County Prosecutor Joe Shaffer has announced that he will run for the state House of Delegates in the 48th District in 2014.

Shaffer has served as the county prosecutor for at little more than a decade and is a local product.  He graduated from Notre Dame High School and Fairmont State University.

In a statement, Shalfer said:

“I understand the criminal justice system and the problems our communities are facing”, Shaffer said.

“As a member of the legislature, I can take what I’ve learned as the prosecutor into being an effective legislator for Harrison County and the state.”

Harrison County is currently represented in the House of Delegates by Delegates Tim Miley (who also serves as the Speaker of the House), Ron Fragale and Richard Iaquinta, all Democrats and Delegate Danny Hamrick, a first-term Republican.

Shaffer will make a formal announcement concerning his candidacy in the near future.
