Virginia man dies in Wood County accident

WAVERLY, W.Va. — A Virginia man was killed in an accident this week in Wood County.

Deputies with the Wood County Sheriff’s Department said Troy Steven Richards, 56, of Norfolk, Va., died after wrecking his 2000 Toyota Tacoma late Thursday near Route 2.

His vehicle was the only one involved in the wreck.

Investigators said the accident happened along Deerwalk Highway, in an area where there are sharp turns, and Richards was not wearing a seatbelt.  They said alcohol may have also been a factor in the crash.
