Mother charged after taking her son when he got off school bus

NUTTER FORT, W.Va. — An 8-year-old Harrison County boy was reunited with his father Tuesday evening after police say he had been illegally taken by his mother when he got off the bus at Nutter Fort Elementary School earlier in the day.

Police said Sara Shirkey of Canton, Ohio has no custodial rights to her son but took him back to Ohio where authorities found them Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities said the boy’s father told them there had been a problem at the bus stop with Shirkey. She was charged with felony child concealment and was in custody in Ohio Tuesday evening awaiting extradition.
