Browne: ‘We have to play hard from the first half’

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Gary Browne wasn’t so much pleased with West Virginia’s attempt at a second-half rally as he was frustrated by its early game lapses.

“We have to play hard from the first half,” the junior guard said after WVU’s 80-71 loss at Missouri. “We can’t come lay down the first half and then, in the second half, try to come back.”

Browne finished with 14 points, four rebounds, two assists and one turnover in a season-high 32 minutes off the bench. He had an up-close view of Missouri’s three-headed backcourt monster of Jordan Clarkson, Jabari Parker and Earnest Ross, who combined to shoot 20-of-36 overall and 16-of-22 from 2-point range.

“They did a pretty good job of driving the ball,” Browne said. “We need to make sure that doesn’t happen, because we’re going to play better teams than this.”
