MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — It’s championship weekend—sort of—in the Big 12, which doesn’t actually have a true championship game but does have two matchups that will determine the league winner.

As you’ll note below, the MetroNews crew foresees Cowboy Bedlam in Stillwater, where an OSU win would only be the second-biggest news of the week. The real happening was ex-billionaire T. Boone Pickens announcing his engagement to Toni Brinker, whose ex-husband invented the salad bar!!!  Like my dear nana always said, “If that ain’t mixing oil and croutons, I don’t know what is!”

On with this week’s picks, all the while hoping BYU and Northern Illinois join the Big 12 so the conference’s name will make sense again and allow it to get back into the title-game business:

We have some really good high school seniors here in SW Florida. Would love to hear they are going to be Mountaineers. Come on down!!!

  • Mountaineer fanatic

It is Sunday and it appears you did as bad as I did picking them. Maybe next year will be better for all of us. I did have Michigan St, Baylor and FSU but lost with Missouri and Ok. State. Glad Baylor won though. Hope they win the Fiesta.
Was Hunter drinking some moonshine. He picked Texas to beat Marshall and Ohio State to beat Stanford!!!!
2014 is the year of the Mountaineer.

  • Dee

Damn. I picked 9 correctly! Lol!!

  • Marty Chase

How can you guys all pick Okla. State? I had the Sooners all the way, plus Mich State in the night game.

  • GH

Looks to me the panel sucks. No surprise. GH

    WVU womens basketball won today.

Northern Illinois ? why not East Carolina , Bowling Green , or Boise State . . . I see the
XII going to 0 teams before it expands . . .

Luck (sic) with conferences has not been the
strong suit for WVU . . . shunned by the SEC
when they broke from the Southern Conference , shunned again when the ACC group split from the Southern . . . not wanted by the Big Easy , but probably allowed to join because of lack of numbers . . .
any wonder I look at WVU's "luck" at gaining admission to the XII with a jaundiced eye . . .
had the XII at least made an overt overture toward Miami , Fla St , Clemson and Va Tech
before their lock on rights - even if it failed , it would have proven that they were planning a long term future . . .
there are still 8 open slots in the 4 other top conferences to bring them all to 16 teams . . . trying not to look at this with a WVU bias , it makes more sense to TV ,
NCAA , and playoff picture to work with 4
    conferences rather than 5 . . . just my two cents worth . . .

Is all this "Luck's" fault? He sure has been a busy boy.

    • OKANYDAY

There are 10 football openings in those 4 conferences if you are using 16 team super conferences! Current count of teams:
      ACC - has 14 teams
      BIG10 - will have 14 teams in 2014
      PAC12 - has 12 teams
      SEC - has 14 teams

      • Rick S.

The ACC is kind of at 15 depending on how Notre Dame is counted. I would not be surprised if the ACC adds either UCF or Cincinnati to get to 16. UCF has a larger enrollment than either Ohio State or Texas (according to wikipedia) and has the potential resources and market to become a big player in college athletics.

    Marsha marsha marsha!

    • Joe

Lol!!!! Why does Marsha always get the good ones??!!

  • Big Larry

    Allan Taylor:

You disappoint me picking Rice to defeat the Beloved Thundering Herd...

    What are you thinking?

    Marshall by 2 touchdowns.

    • mauldawg

Rice all the way. The herdies are nothing.

    • Hesa Duffus

Classic pick for Big Larry, Marshall was so brutal in all aspects of the game and got rolled appropriately. As for your boy Cato? this clown was supposed to be a team leader but he couldn't lead a prostitute to a bedroom

What a joke and some clowns on this site want Doc "Will never win the big one" Holiday as coach at WVU???

Sad times for Big Larry crying in moms basement in Huntington

    • Hailey

Larry "The Greek" provides yet another Epic fail

    • 4mounties4life

Larry, Allan was thinking that Marshall played a very soft schedule this year and that Rice is a very disciplined football team without thugs and lazy players like the plundering terd. Martinsburg High could've beat the terd this year.

  • Billy

Looks like Hunter thinks Marshall is playing Texas for the Big 12 championship.

    • Mister Man

      LOL!!

    • Jonny D

He also thinks Ohio St. is pulling double duty by not only winning the Big 10 title but also winning a Pac 12 game between Stanford and Arizona State

    • Steve

Best thing for wvmetronews to do would be to just take this page off of the site.
