CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The timing of Tuesday’s quick-moving snowstorm forced county school officials in 36 West Virginia counties to either cancel or postpone classes for the day.
Twenty-five school systems canceled classes while 11 decided to operate on a two-hour delay.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Andy Roche said the quick-moving storm left behind 1-2 inches in central counties with additional accumulation over the eastern mountains.
“We have reports of two to three and four inches the more east you go. The highest amount we’ve received so far is four inches in Nicholas County,” according to Roche.
Roche said the storm would be gone by early afternoon.
“It will be northeast of the mountains,” he said.
