IRVING, TX— For the second straight year, a Marshall freshman is being recognized as the league’s Freshman of the Year. This year defensive back Corey Tindal is sharing the honor with Tulane linebacker Nico Marley.
Tindal has posted 55 tackles, five tackles for loss while being credited with six pass breakups and two fumble recoveries.
Tindal emerged as a key part of the revamped Marshall defense, excelling as a nickel back providing extra coverage or coming off the edge on blitzes to pressure the quarterback or provide run support.
Last year, running back Kevin Grooms was honored as the freshman of the year by the league.
