Huntington man killed in bar shooting

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — A Huntington man was killed and three people wounded after a shooting inside a Huntington bar early Friday morning. The shots rang out shortly before the 3 a.m. closing at Shoop’s on 4th Avenue.

Police say shooting took place inside Shoop’s just before the bar was scheduled to close Friday morning.

Police said a man and woman got into an altercation. While the bar staff was removing the man from the premises, he pulled out a gun and fired several shots. There were about 15 people in the building at the time. One of the bullets hit the woman involved in the altercation. Two others were also shot.

The bouncer at the bar, who had a conceal-carry permit, fired at the shooter and killed him. The shooter has been identified as 25-year-old Antonio Devon Brown of Huntington.

The three victims were taken by car to the hospital. Two went to St. Mary’s Hospital, the other to Cabell Huntington Hospital. Their injuries are not life-threatening.

The bouncer was taken to the Huntington Police Department for questioning. Investigators said they’re leaving it up to the Cabell County Prosecutor’s office as to whether charges will be filed.

An investigation is ongoing.
