One dead in Morgantown area accident

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.– The snow and ice are believed to have played a role in a fatal crash near Morgantown Monday morning.  One person was killed on Interstate 79 close to the Goshen Road.

The accident happened around 8:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes.  Monongalia County Sheriff Al Kisner said the crash involved a tractor-trailer and a Toyota. A woman driving the Toyota was killed in the crash.

The victim’s name has not been released.

Sheriff’s deputies are continuing to investigate what caused the crash.

The fatal collision was one of more than 30 accidents that were reported to Monongalia County 911 between 7:00 a.m. and noon Monday.
