Clarksburg swears in new police chief

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — The Clarksburg Police Department has a new chief.

Clarksburg Police Chief R.L. “Robbie” Hilliard was sworn in Monday during a ceremony.

Since July, Hilliard has been serving as interim chief. He becomes the 30th permanent police chief in the history of the city.

During the ceremony, Hilliard vowed to secure a substation for the department to further encourage community involvement and continue the fight against drugs.

Hilliard has 24 years of service with the police department and oversees 42 officers.
