One killed in Summers County fire

FOREST HILL, W.Va. — Firefighters with the Forest Hill Volunteer Fire Department were back out at the scene of a deadly fire in Summers County on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency officials confirmed one person was killed in the initial blaze which was first reported around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at a home in Forest Hill.

Crews from both the Forest Hill and Hinton fire departments responded.

The body of the victim, who was not immediately identified, was taken to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

According to fire officials, the blaze rekindled on Wednesday and firefighters from Forest Hill returned to the scene.

It will be up to investigators with the state Fire Marshal’s Office to determine the cause of the blaze.
