One person dead after Huntington shooting

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — A man is dead after a shooting Tuesday evening in Huntington.

It happened just after 5 p.m. Tuesday at a home along 27th Street in East Huntington.

Huntington Police said Robert Crutcher, 44, died at St. Mary’s Medical Center a short time after receiving a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Police plan to arrest James Lee Johnson, 25, of Michigan, and charge him with one count of murder in the shooting after he is released from Cabell Huntington Hospital. He is being treated for head injuries.

Police believe at this time the victim, suspect and a third person were arguing in an upstairs bedroom at the home before the shooting took place.

The investigation is ongoing.
