MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The committee to search for a new president of West Virginia University will be chosen by Jan. 6, and the school’s Board of Governors adopted characteristics for the new president at its meeting Friday.

How about that guy who is being "held out" from that duck show. I think he played QB in college and he also might work as the Mountaineer during football season.

  • WVU grad

And hopefully come from south of the Mason Dixon line.

    • Guardian

There are some good people south of the M-D line who would be nice fits.

  • David Kennedy

If he is not too old.
I'd like to see Gaston Caperton come back home for a while.
WVU would be the right place for him.

I'd like to see them re-hire the guy that signed my diploma back in 1974. If my memory is correct, he was a WVU President for 10 years, although few if any students ever saw him. I was there 4 years and never laid eyes on him.

He was from Oklahoma, had a Doctorate in Science, ran the family publishing company, and his brother was an Adviser to President Nixon. I suspect he has long passed.

But, he'd be perfect for the job. Wasn't around then, won't get into anyone's way now.

James Harlow! A corporate-board type guy who may have been doing great things for the University financially and politically, but looked pretty out of place in the days of Vietnam protest, cheap pot, and free love. He even sort of looked like Jennings Randolph. Thanks for the memories.

  • S Claus

That spec sheet fits me to a "tee." I'll be in the neighborhood in a few days. If the place has a chimney, I could drop in for an interview. Ho ho ho and a Merry Christmas to all!

  • Chef Camille

Gee I think I might apply. I am a Chef married to a doctor and also worked at a research hospital albeit as an accountant. I wonder why they didn't say anything about giving out degrees or hiring athletic coaches?

Down, boy. Your unprofessionalism is showing. All that is water under the bridge. You can move forward looking in the rearview mirror all of the time.

  • WVU 74

Nothing unique in the proposed characteristics. Standard boilerplate for most colleges seeking a President.
