Missing man found dead in Jackson County

RAVENSWOOD, W.Va. — State Police said Monday a man reported missing last week in Wood County was found dead Saturday morning in Jackson County.

Troopers said it appeared Michael Staats,47, of Parkersburg lost control of his car sometime last week on Route 68 north of Ravenswood. The car went over an embankment and couldn’t be easily spotted from the road.

Investigators said speed looks to have been a factor.
