One dead in Randolph County crash

RANDOLPH COUNTY, W.Va. — A three-vehicle crash in Randolph County kills one person and sends two others to the hospital.

It happened just before 10 a.m. Monday on Route 219.

Officials with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department said a vehicle traveling north on Route 219 crossed the median and hit an oncoming Coca Cola truck head-on.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies said the driver of the truck pulled a 5-year-old girl from the vehicle as it caught fire. The girl was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time.

The driver of the truck was taken to Davis Memorial Hospital with what appeared to be non life-threatening injuries.

The names of the victims are not being released at this time as the investigation continues.
