Fayette County deputies looking for man charged with kidnapping

MEADOW BRIDGE, W.Va. — Deputies in Fayette County continue their search for a man who allegedly bound a woman’s hands and feet together and then left her at a strip mine.

On Christmas Day just before 8 p.m., deputies said Betty Burns, 38, called 911 and reported being abducted in the Meadow Bridge area of Fayette County.

Burns told deputies that she had gotten into a fight with her boyfriend Larry Nelson, 36, at the couple’s Spring Dale home Wednesday afternoon.

When she tried to leave, she said that’s when Nelson hit her over the head and tied her up. He then proceeded to put Burns in his car and drove to a strip mine site along Springdale Church Road where he pushed her out of the car and left her.

Burns soon managed to untie herself and walk 90 minutes to a nearby home and call for help.

Deputies have filed kidnapping and domestic violence charges against Nelson.

Anyone with information on Nelson’s whereabouts is asked to call the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department at 304-574-3590.
