CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A former Webster County delegate has died. Joseph B. Talbott, a Webster Springs native, died Monday, according to officials with the state House of Delegates.
Talbott was first elected to the House in 1992 and 1994 and then returned to the State Capitol to serve from 2002 to 2012.
During his time in the House, he served as chair of the Constitutional Revision and Natural Resources committees and also was a member of a number of other committees.
“Members of the House of Delegates are deeply saddened by the loss of this friend and colleague. Delegate Talbott never shied away from hard work, and both his constituents and his fellow legislators appreciated him for it,” said House leaders in a statement.
“His honorable service in the Legislature and genuine friendship will long be remembered fondly here in the House of Delegates.”
Talbott was a former U.S. Marine and a retired educator.
Funeral arrangements for Talbott were not immediately available.
