Caldwell after win over Horns: ‘We did what we had to do’

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — After West Virginia edged Texas 56-49 in overtime, Christal Caldwell reflected on the late-game comeback, WVU overcoming poor shooting, and her first career chest-bump.

“We just did what we had to do,” said Caldwell, who joined Averee Fields for a team-high 12 points. “Sometimes it’s not pretty, and tonight was not pretty, but we did it.

“As you could see, we didn’t hit very many shots. But when it counted we got a big rebound or a steal or a big basket.”
