Nicholas man charged with raping teenager

CANVAS, W.Va. — Bond was set at $1,000,000 for the Nicholas County man who allegedly sexually assaulted a teenager repeatedly over the past two years.

Deputies with the Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department said Richard Lloyd Thomas, III, 34, of Canvas, was being held in the Central Regional Jail on Tuesday while the investigation continued.

Thomas was charged with 25 counts of second degree sexual assault and 25 counts of sexual abuse by a parent or guardian.

Investigators said the victim was a 15-year-old girl, but it was not immediately clear if or how Thomas was related to the girl.
