Washington stays No. 1 in week two of the MetroNews Power Index

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Washington (8-0) remains as the top ranked team in boys high school basketball out of the state in this week’s edition of the MetroNews Power Index, released on Wednesday.

The Patriots defeated Sherando, Virginia over the past week 88-56 with a game looming against Hedgesville later this week. The Eagles (8-1) come in at No. 4 in the rankings after a 54-27 win over defending Class AAA champion Martinsburg and 69-31 victory over Hampshire.

Musselman is at No. 2 with a 6-0 record. Parkersburg South, still undefeated at 9-0, is at No. 3. Capital (4-0) comes in at No. 5 – the Cougars remained unbeaten on the year with a 72-71 win over South Charleston.

The highest Class AA team ranked is Robert C. Byrd (8-0) at No. 6. Huntington St. Joseph out of Class A comes in at No. 16.

The MetroNews Power Index is a computer based formula that factors in strength of schedule. Records listed are for games played through Tuesday, January 14th.
