Charleston hosts Restaurant Week

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Pull your chair up to the table. It’s Restaurant Week in Charleston. Buzz Food Services organized the event which starts Monday and runs through Saturday.

So what is Restaurant Week?

“The concept, in this case, is all participating restaurants accept the same price point and each will offer a three-course dinner for $30,” explained Dickinson Gould, with Buzz Food Services.

Eight eateries are participating in Restaurant Week

That means for $30 you get a soup or salad, an entree and a dessert, at your choice, of eight local eateries. They include: the Bluegrass Kitchen, Bridge Road Bistro, Ichiban, Noah’s Eclectic Bistro, Paterno’s at the Park, Soho’s Capitol Market, South Hills Market and Café and Vandalia Grille.

“These promotions seem to work best when you focus on the fine dining category. So a place that’s traditionally seen or perceived as being a little bit more expensive, it just sort of brings down the barriers,” according to Gould. “And if we can knock down some of those barriers and make you think about eating at a local restaurant, then we’ve just done a service to local business.”

Gould said those restaurants could use a good dose of business after what they’ve been through with the water crisis.

“These restaurants have been hit and hit hard by the last couple of weeks of inactivity. If we can get people out to fill these dining rooms, for a week, it will be of tremendous value to these eight local businesses,” stressed Gould.

He said Restaurant Week is not in reaction to the water crisis.

“This promotion was in the works before anyone ever thought about MCHM but what we have found out is the restaurants need the attention and traffic more than ever.”

It’s best to make a reservation if you want to take advantage of the promotion. Gould said some of those participating eateries are nearly booked up.
