Elderly woman killed in Kanawha County fire

WEST SIDE, W.Va. — The state Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a deadly fire that occurred Tuesday night in Kanawha County just outside the St. Albans city limits.

Investigators said an elderly woman became trapped in a house at 115 Fairview Drive. Firefighters unsuccessfully tried to rescue the victim. No word yet on what may have started the blaze.

The fire was reported at just after 7 p.m.
