More bottled water for Kanawha County

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Bottled water distribution is back in Kanawha County. A week after the last shipment from FEMA was handed out at the Kanawha County Courthouse more bottled water will be available while it lasts.

Late Thursday Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin called for bottled water that was not being handed out in certain areas be delivered to places like Kanawha County where the demand continues.

The distribution centers will open at 11 a.m. and close at 5 p.m.

You can pick up bottled water at the following locations: Pratt Volunteer Fire Department, Glasgow Volunteer Fire Department, Clendenin Volunteer Fire Department and, in Charleston, under the interstate between Quarrier and Lee Streets.

Currently there is one truck at each site.

One bulk water site is set up at the Crossings Mall in Elkview. You need to bring your own containers.

Meanwhile, West Virginia American Water Company has purchased 20 tractor trailer loads of bottled water. It will be handed out through the state and the West Virginia National Guard. The company’s total bottled water contribution is now up to 33 trucks, at a cost of $132,000.
