One killed in Upshur County fire

HODGESVILLE, W.Va. — A Sunday morning fire in Upshur County claimed one life.

Officials with the State Fire Marshal’s Office said a 46-year-old woman died in the blaze that happened at a home in the Hodgesville area, near Hackers Creek Road, around 3 a.m. Sunday.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

Crews from several different fire departments along with deputies with the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department responded to the fire scene.

The victim was not being publicly identified as of Sunday afternoon.
