Emanuel Beal

WR, 6-1, 210

Hillgrove High School (GA)
A 3-star recruit who has big play potential

Beal says Marshall’s offense was just too good to pass up. Beal had 10 catches for 355 yards and three touchdowns for Hillgrove (11-2) in 2013 despite missing the first five games to help the Hawks advance to the third round of the Class 6A state playoffs.  Beal had 43 catches for 855 yards and seven touchdowns for Wheeler (6-5) in 2012 to lead the Wildcats to the Class 6A state playoffs.

Ryan Bee

DE, 6-7, 245

Hillsdale High School (OH)
One of the top small school defensive ends in Ohio

Bee tallied 66 tackles, 11 sacks and 11 TFL as a junior at Hillsdale.  Bee was a two-way player also seeing action as a tight end and playing along the offensive line.  Bee had also received interest from Bowling Green and Toledo.

Fedice Binot

OL, 6-3, 252

Lake Gibson (FL) High School
Could add depth on the offensive line

 

Alex Cason

WR, 6-2, 182

Valdosta (GA) High School
Has been timed at 4.52 seconds in 40-yard dash

Cason also drew interest from UNC Charlotte, Cincinnati, South Alabama and Western Kentucky.

Keion Davis

WR, 6-0, 185

Langston Hughs (GA) High School
An athlete who can run and catch the ball

Davis was the primary ball carrier at Langston Hughs High School but will probably make an impact out wide for The Herd. Davis was ranked as the 89th best prospect by 247Sports.  He rushed for 1,068 yards on 197 attempts and 12 touchdowns during his junior season. He also caught an five passes for 50 yards and two additional scores.  Davis also had scholarship offers from Mississippi State, Georgia State, and South Alabama.

Nathaniel Devers

OL, 6-3, 261

Washington (OH) High School
Ranked as No. 7 center in the country

Rivals ranks Devers as a 3-star prospect who had verbally committed to Cincinnati.  Devers switched his commitment following a visit to Marshall in January.  He told HerdNation.com why he changed his mind. “Just everything about Marshall — the coaches, the players, the facilities, the people, the campus, the town, the fanbase, the tradition. Everything about it is great.” Dever also had scholarship offers from Akron, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Connecticut, Indiana, Ohio and Toledo.

Jordan Dowery

OL, 6-1, 270

John Handley (VA) High School
Lineman with strength and quickness

Dowery also had offers from Connecticut and several other FCS schools.  Dowery is regarded as one of the top wrestlers in Virginia and won the 2013 AA state title in the 285 pound weight class.  During his senior season former Washington Redskin Joe Jocoby served as Dowery’s offensive line coach. His brother, Derek, is in his sophomore season as a defensive tackle at Penn State.

 

Hyleck Foster

ATH, 5-9, 178

Gaffney (SC) High School
Foster should be a good fit in the offense

Foster was a running back for Gaffney and ran for 1,799 yards and 26 touchdowns in 2012 to lead Gaffney to the Class 4A Division I state title. Foster says Marshall was his top choice because of the way The Herd runs its offense. Said the best part of his recruiting trip was running pass routes with Marshall receivers coach Mike Furrey.

Kendall Gant

S, 6-2, 180

Fork Union (VA) Military Academy
Flipped his commitment from Georgia

Gant is a safety that is long, lean and has room to get stronger. Scout.com says he has great ball skills, closing speed and has a knack for being at the right place at the right time.

 

Cole Garvin

QB, 6-1, 196

Sandy Creek (GA) High School
Has already enrolled and will practice this spring

Garvin is a 3-star recruit that is already on campus. Garvin graduated from Sandy Creek High School early and enrolled in Marshall in January.  High School Coach Chip Walker says Garvin has leadership intangibles, the physical ability, character and drive to be successful. Garvin completed 68.8 percent of his passes in 2013 for 2,196 yards and 18 touchdowns will throwing just four interceptions. Garvin tallied a 39-2-1 record as Sandy Creek’s starting quarterback.

Donquell Green

WR, 5-9, 160

Burke County (GA) High School
Committed to The Herd in late Janurary

Green was also considering offered from the likes of Georgia Tech, North Carolina and Middle Tennessee State. Green is a do-it-all prospect that played running back in high school but will move to receiver with The Herd. Possesses elusiveness in the open field and has the ability to run over players in the secondary.

Maurice Hall

ATH, 6-2, 186

Gibb (FL) High School
Flipped his commitment from UCF to Marshall

Hall has speed and made a name for himself as a kick returner. He’s been timed in the 40-yard dash at 4.4 seconds and bench presses 245 pounds. Hall was a three-sport athlete at Gibbs, playing small forward on the basketball team and running track.

 

LaDerrick Hammond

DB, 6-2, 175

Jefferson County, (GA) High School
An underrated safety with lots of potential

Hammond verbally committed to The Herd in August and had drawn interest from Georgia, Kentucky and Mississippi State. Hammond has been timed in the 40-yard dash at 4.6 seconds and has a 31-inch vertical.

 

Kaleb Harris

ATH, 6-4, 200

Norwayne (OH) High School
Committed to Cincinnati early in the summer but reconsideredHarris is rated as a 3-star recruit by Scout and Rivals. After verbally committing to the Bearcats, Harris began to second guess his decision. Harris was recruited by offensive coordinator Bill Legg. Harris ran a 4.5 40-yard dash at Tommy Tuberville’s football camp this past summer.

 

Nyquan Harris

DT, 6-3, 285

Lake Taylor (VA) High School
Was considering Clemson, Nebraska, & Virginia Tech

Had a great visit to Huntington and feels like he can make an early impact. Harris says The Herd’s coaching staff played a large part in his decision to commit to Marshall.

 

Frankie Hernandez

LB, 6-0, 188

Largo (FL) High School
Committed to South Florida, but changes his mind

Hernandez had an on-again, off-again relationship with South Florida but ultimately chose The Herd. Hernandez is possess speed and strength.  Largo was ranked in the top 10 in Class 6A in Florida. Does have some academic issues that he needs to resolve.

Demetrius Johnson

6-2, 202, ATH

Annapolis (MD) Christian School
Ranked as 13 overall prospect in Maryland

Rivals rates Johnson as a 3-star recruit.  Johnson chose Marshall over Syracuse.  Marshall sees Johnson as playing either receiver or safety. Johnson made 105 tackles and scored four defensive touchdowns in 2013. He also snagged four interceptions and forced three fumbles. On the other side of the ball, Johnson caught 21 passes for 416 yards and four touchdowns.

Quintavious Knight

DB, 6-0, 175

Georgia Military Academy
Chose Marshall over Kansas State and WVU

Knight also had offers from Arizona, Kansas State and West Virginia. He’ll be reunited with former Georgia Military Academy teammate Neville Hewitt at Marshall. Says he hopes to help the team early in multiple ways. Knight recorded three interceptions in 2013. Knight was a 2012 prospect out of Grady High School but a discipline issue sidelined him his senior season. He enrolled at Georgia Military College after he graduated.

Donaldven Manning

OL, 5-10, 181

Virginia Tech
Joined Marshall last year but had to fulfill transfer rules

Appeared in eight games, playing 124 plays (93 on defense and 31 on special teams). Had four tackles and an interception on the season. Intercepted a pass in collegiate debut against Austin Peay. Made three tackles at Pittsburgh … Contributed on special teams and defense against Bowling Green and Cincinnati. Appeared on defense, as well as special teams in the Russell Athletic Bowl against Rutgers

 

Brandon Mitchell

OL, 6-4, 310

Pierce Community College (CA)
Marshall was Mitchell’s lone offer.The JUCO lineman says he is just looking for an opportunity to play D-1 football. Mitchell was originally part of the 2010 recruiting class but had to enroll in junior college due to academic issues.

 

Tomell One

DE, 6-3, 271

Bayside (FL) High School
Turned down Louisville and Mississippi State

Says his decision to commit to Marshall was attributed to his relationship with his lead recruiter, defensive ends coach Sean Cronin. Thinks he will fit in the Marshall’s attacking defense.

 

Antavis Rowe

DB, 5-20, 170

Washington (GA) High School
A 2-star prospect from Georgia

Rivals rates Rowe as a 2-star prospect.

 

Jason Smith

DT, 6-3, 270

East Coast Prep
Has an aggressive motor and quick feet

Smith is following the path of Corey Tindal, Kent Turene, Angelo Jean-Louis and Deontay McManus by being a mid-year enrollee and an academic non-qualifer. Smith chose Marshall over Akron, Bowling Green, Illinois, Ohio, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Toledo. Smith is already on campus and enrolled at Marshall.

Malik Thompson

DE, 6-6, 246

Fork Union Military Academy
Thompson is a mid-year enrollee at Marshall

 

Ricardo Williams

DE, 6-5, 230

University of Miami
Started his career at with the HurricanesPlayed in one game with Miami against North Carolina. Transferred to Marshall in summer of 2013. He was a three-star prospect out of high school. Known as a “high energy” player can also play outside linebacker.

 

Reese Wooten

WR, 6-2, 170

Cairo (GA) High School
Was the first commitment for the Class of 2014

Wooten committed to Marshall in May and affirmed that commitment during his official visit in October. Wooten says he is looking forward to playing in The Herd’s offense. Wooten has been timed in the 40-yard dash at 4.39 seconds. Marshall Recruiting Coordinator Todd Hartley says Wooten runs like Aaron Dobson.

 

Ryan Yuracheck

TE, 6-1, 229

Carolina Forest (SC) High School
Yuracheck is a tight end that can be a downfield threat

Yuracheck committed to Marshall in June. He’s rated as a 1-star prospect by Rivals. He chose Marshall over Appalachian State, Charleston Southern, Georgia Southern, Holy Cross, Liberty and The Citadel, all of which offered him scholarships.  Yuracheck played strong safety as a freshman and sophomore and played his final two seasons at tight end. In 2012, he caught 56 passes for 731 yards and seven touchdowns.
