South Charleston up to No. 2 in week five of the MetroNews Power Index

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Washington (12-0) stays as the top ranked team in the state in week five of the boys basketball MetroNews Power Index, but it’s South Charleston (13-1) that jumps up from No. 5 to No. 2 following a big week.

The Black Eagles picked up wins over Huntington, St. Albans, Cabell Midland and George Washington. The wins over Huntington and George Washington came by a combined four points.

Parkersburg South falls to No. 3, Musselman is No. 4 and Martinsburg climbs up to No. 5. The Bulldogs avenged an early season loss to Hedgesville by beating the Eagles back on Friday, 61-52.

Woodrow Wilson also continues its surge, picking up five wins over the past week to improve to 10-2 overall and coming in at No. 6.

Robert C. Byrd  (12-0) is the highest AA team ranked at No. 9, while St. Joseph Central (15-1) is still the highest Class A team ranked at No. 20, despite an out-of-state loss.
