WAYNE, W.Va. — A Wayne County woman will be sentenced in March for involuntary manslaughter in connection with the November 2011 death of her boyfriend.
It’s a lesser charge for Sara Worstell, 22, of Ceredo who was originally indicted for murder in November 2012, a year after Michael Meachem, 22, was found unresponsive in an apartment in Ceredo.
He later died at a Huntington hospital. According to an autopsy report, the cause of death was positional asphyxiation or suffocation.
Following his death, Worstell told investigators Meachem was intoxicated at the time and she had him in a choke hold.
Worstell’s murder trial was scheduled to start later this month, instead, she’ll be sentenced on March 21.
