GW makes significant jump in week seven of the MetroNews Power Index

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Four wins over the past week catapulted George Washington (16-4) from No. 12 overall all the way up to No. 3 in week seven of the MetroNews Power Index for boys high school basketball, released on Wednesday.

The Patriots picked up wins on the week over Capital, Hurricane, Pt. Pleasant and Elkins. Washington remains No. 1 with an undefeated 16-0 record. South Charleston is No. 2 at 17-1 on the year. Huntington (16-3) is No. 4, with Musselman (13-4) jumping up to No. 5 after wins over Martinsburg and Jefferson.

Robert C. Byrd (16-0) is the highest Class AA team at No. 6 overall. St. Joseph Central (16-2) remains the highest ranked Class A team at No. 24, despite an out-of-state loss to Oak Hill, Ohio.

The MetroNews Power Index is a computer based formula that factors in strength of schedule. Records listed are for games played through Tuesday, February 18th.
