WHEELING, W.Va. — The federal building in Wheeling went on full lockdown Wednesday after a man allegedly threatened to shoot-up the building.
Investigators said Charles Coffman, 43, of Wheeling, was getting treatment at a Wheeling doctor’s office when he allegedly made that threat. A person who heard him called authorities.
The building was on lockdown until police took Coffman into custody
U.S. Attorney Bill Ihlenfeld said every threat is serious especially following an incident last fall. Thomas Piccard was shot and killed by authorities after firing 26 shots into the federal building last October.
Coffman is charged with willfully threatening to commit a terrorist act. He was initially held on $25,000 bail.
