DOH supervisor indicted on federal charges

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — A supervisor with the state Division of Highways has been indicted by a federal grand jury for after allegedly lying to an FBI investigator.

U.S. Attorney Bill Ihlenfeld announced Thursday the indictment of Barry Thompson, 48, of Mount Clare. Thompson is charged with one count of making a “False Statement to a Federal Agent.”

It’s alleged Thompson knowingly did not tell the truth with an FBI agent questioned him last month as part of the ongoing federal investigation in the DOH’s Equipment Division. Thompson is the supervisor of that DOH office in Buckhannon, which purchases equipment that is used statewide by the agency.

If convicted, Thompson could be sentenced to up to five years in federal prison.
