Investigators: Remains of missing well worker located

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Remains found at the site of a natural gas well explosion in southwestern Pennsylvania have been sent to the coroner’s office in Greene County, Pa. for identification.

Investigators said they believed the remains were those of Ian McKee, 27, a Cameron International field service technician who had most recently lived in Morgantown.

McKee had not been seen since the Feb. 11 explosion that sparked a fire that burned for five days near Bobtown, Pa.  He was one of the 20 workers on site at the time of the blast.  The other workers, though, were quickly accounted for in the hours after the blast.

McKee’s remains were found during a search of the well site which Chevron owns, located north of Morgantown, on Wednesday.

His fiancee is reportedly pregnant with the couple’s child who is due in July.
