PHILIPPI, W.Va. –The Barbour County Commission moved quickly Friday to fill a leadership void in the sheriff’s department.

The commission named Lt. Phil Ferguson as interim sheriff following Thursday’s resignation of Sheriff John Hawkins.

Hawkins resigned as part of a plea agreement with federal prosecutors. He pleaded guilty Thursday to committing insurance fraud. He faces up to 20 years in federal prison.

The county commission has 30 days to name a permanent replacement.

Poor Phil. Hope he gets a lot of help .

Such a shame the leftists have to use voter fraud to achieve anything. Seems to be way more (d)'s occupying cells than conservatives. All one has to do is look at the Chicago thug named mOrOn and his cronies to see it. WV's mOrONs are filling the cell blocks.

Holding top the norm, did they appoint a liberal (d)? God forbid they inject some conservatism into the socialism reign of this county.

If conservatives could win elections they wouldn't need arbitrary injections by a vocal minority.
