Maryland twins latest commitments to WVU’s budding 2015 class

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia’s latest junior day event proved fruitful thanks to commitments from Maryland three-star twins Jordan Adams and Jacquez Adams on Saturday.

Projected to play receiver or defensive back in college, the brothers from Franklin High in Reisterstown, Md., were viewed as a package deal and became the eighth and ninth commitments to West Virginia’s 2015 class—one that analysts say could crack the top 20 nationally.

Both of the Adamses hold offers from Wisconsin, while Jordan also has been offered by Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt, Rutgers and N.C. State.

“Jordan is a little taller at 6-foot-1, 160 pounds and appears to be a little leaner,” said Rivals senior writer Keenan Cummings, who announced the commitments at WVSports.com. “Be it at receiver of cornerback, he’s smooth, very quick and explosive.

“Jacquez, at 6-foot, 165 pounds, is the thicker of the two and plays with a little more power. On defense he isn’t afraid to put his head into someone.”

The twins led Franklin High to the Maryland Class 3A state championship last December, with Jacquez starring at quarterback. He threw for two scores in the title game after firing six touchdown passes and throwing for 337 yards in the state semifinal.

West Virginia assistant Lonnie Galloway served as the Adams’ lead recruiter and hopes to make further inroads at Franklin High, where four-star prospect Pat Allen is rated as the No. 15 offensive tackle in the nation for 2015. Allen holds an offer from the Mountaineers, who are competing against the likes of USC, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Penn State.

In addition, Franklin also boasts running back Steven Smothers, who projects to be a highly touted recruit in 2016.
