MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A seven-game winning streak has the West Virginia women’s basketball knocking on a top-10 ranking.

The Mountaineers (24-3, 13-2) climbed two spots to No. 11 in the latest Associated Press poll announced Monday, benefiting from last week’s blowout wins over No. 12 Oklahoma State 77-45 and Kansas State 61-40.

This week brings a Wednesday night home game against Texas Tech (6-20, 0-15) preceding Sunday’s showdown in Waco against No. 6 Baylor (24-3, 14-1). The Bears beat West Virginia 78-62 on Jan. 8 in Morgantown.

West Virginia has not been ranked in the top 10 since reaching No. 8 on Jan. 24, 2011. The highest-ever ranking in program history was No. 6 on Dec. 20, 2010, where the Mountaineers remained for four consecutive weeks.

I appreciate, cause I found exactly what I was looking for. You have ended my 5 day long find! God Bless you man. Have a excellent afternoon. Cya.

  • WV Grad

All that athleticism and brains to boot.
Four of the ladies made the Big 12 academic honor roll, let by Halee with a 4.0 in industrial engineering.

    Go Carey and company!

  • Phil M.

Not in the top 10, seriously. How much did they beat the number twelve team by ??

No respect but, we're use to that at WVU !!

In fact we perform the best when thought of the least.

    Kick A_ _ ladies !!!!

  • Aaron

I have a feeling the young ladies are going to take the disrespect their program is shown and use it to prove the naysayers wrong. These young ladies do our University proud.

  • Truthteller

That won't last for long. The very minute WVU gets into the top ten. The rich elite snobs will be making phone calls to change all of that. They don't want those shoeless hillbillies in the top 10
in the country. I know how all this brain washing works. Sports was only created to distract the
pubic from noticing the bad things going on behind the scenes in the real world. Those rich
crooks stealing our money while your head is
    stuck in the TV.

  • clair

Definitely should be in top ten. They need a good tournament run to establish theirselfs in the nations view.

  • Joe

Off topic, but I love the solid, filled in lettering of the ladies jerseys. Much better than the outline font on the men's.

I sorry to say but there is a problem. I can't figure out why our ladies team is not rank higher ... like 7th or 8th! Keep up the good work .... Let's Go Mountaineers!

  • Ike

Proud of this team and coaches. Play them one at a time and always strive to be the best you can be. Your success will be shared by the rest of our sports teams and will give all of our WVU athletes the confidence to compete and flourish in the Big 12. You are the role model, so I root for your continued success. Lets Go Mountaineers

    • Greg

Role models just like the women's soccer and the baseball team! Go get em gals!

  • jay zoom

should at least of been rated 9th or 10th maybe a little higher. wonder if HUGGINS has asked CAREY for some advice yet. way to go ladies your number one in my book.

  • Dave

The only way the Lady Mountaineers will move into the top ten is by beating Baylor and that's a tough chore. They also need to beat Baylor for a shot at the BIG12 champion. Keep up the good work. You have a great team and a great coach. There's no reason you can't win it all.

Great job lady Mountaineers; keep on moving up the ladder. You are performing well in the BIG12, and good luck the rest of the way. Mountaineer Pride !

  • Big Larry

    Good to hear!

  • Country Roads
