MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — View Rachel Shoaf’s second-degree murder sentencing hearing in its entirety from Monongalia County Circuit Court.

Shoaf, 17, one of two teenage girls who confessed to the 2012 stabbing death of University High student Skylar Neese, was sentenced to 30 years in prison Wednesday. She’ll be eligible for parole in 10 years.

Her cohort Shelia Eddy, 18, who last month pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison, will be parole-eligible in 15 years.

Do they really call these sentences JUSTICE??

  • Jason

She seemed more bothered by the $921 she owed than by the 30 years she was sentenced.

God please don't let these girls get released in less time that they were sentenced. Everyone on here saying they will be out in 15 years need to shut up! They will rot in prison for life! If they are lucky they will be out by the time they are 60

At least Shoaf made an apology, unlike the unapologetically sociopathic Shelia Eddy. Too little, too late on saying sorry, and who knows if it is sincere or just put out there to try to mitigate her guilt, but at least she said it. That said, she definitely needs to serve the lion's share of her 30 year sentence. No parole in 10 years.

I have been following this case from day one, since Skylar went missing. I am sickened to even hear Rachel Shoaf's voice and to hear her pathetic apology, especially after reading all of the available Facebook and Twitter posts that she made. She has no soul, she is only remorseful because she is a narcissist. She is only caring about herself. I hope she has plenty of time to replay that murder of that young girl over and over again in her head. If she truly feels remorseful then I am sure that she will never have the cries, the sights, and the death of Skylar Neese out of her mind. Those images will haunt her for the rest of her life.

The whole situation is very sad unfortunately keeping those girls in prison will not bring sweet Skylar back . I just pray they take this time to found who ever there God is and make a difference and do good in the world and pray for forgiveness ,to me living with that would be more punishment than I could handle.

Anna no keeping them in prison will not bring her back but those girls knew what they were doing and they need to make restitution to society for their actions....I would not want them around my granddaughters.. they would not be safe... they premeditated this murder...I pray for them but bible says it is sin and bible says sin will find you out.. sooooo they owe a debt and to pay that debt they either die or be inprisoned for their actions... no easy thing but necessary...

Rot with Shelia in Lakin and I hope you never have a days peace or a restful sleep again.

Rachel's comment that jesus was her lord & savior. if this was true she would not have murdered skylar!!! after listening to this court room video I do truly think the only thing she is sorry for is that she got caught!!! if she truly was sorry then her nor her lawyers would of even asked for a lighter sentence. she would of expected & welcomed the longest possible jail term.

Shelia Eddy is NOT eligible for parole in ten years. It's 15 years. I'm sure she won't get it.
Shoaf will be out in 15 years regardless, because with 2nd degree murder you get time for good behavior a day for a day served.

As I sit and watched this sentencing my heart was broken for everyone involved and I pray that Rachel confessing Jesus Christ forgiveness was not just words but truly a repentance..As vile as this premeditated murder was God will forgive if she is truly repentant and somehow they may all find peace and comfort through the Lord Jesus Christ....I cried through the whole sitting and I do not know how Mr and Mrs Neese are coping...They probably aren't they are just existing..I cry for you and pray for you... God Bless all involved and God's Mercy on you.

It is sad to see that Shelia Eddy will be eligible for parole in 10 years.

  • Dee
