CHARLESTON, W.Va. – It’s been more than six years since West Virginia native Brad Paisley played Charleston. On Saturday, his ‘Beat This Winter Tour’ rolls into the Charleston Civic Center and it’s expected to be a packed house.
Known for his hits ‘Alcohol,’ ‘Ticks’ and ‘American Saturday Night,’ the Glen Dale native has scored 32 top 10 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs. Eighteen of those hit number 1.
Brian Egan, the program director for 96.1 The Wolf in Charleston, said it should be a dynamic show and one fans have eagerly awaited.
“I think the really big deal for fans of Brad Paisley is he hasn’t been here in Charleston in so long.”
In fact, the last time Paisley was in concert at the Charleston Civic Center was November 2007 with his ‘Bonfires and Amplifiers Tour’. His opening act that year Rodney Atkins. This time around Egan said he has two great opening artists.
“He’s bringing two amazing, young, hot acts with him, Chris Young and season 4 winner of the Voice Danielle Bradbery,” said Egan.
Egan said not only does Paisley sing and write his own songs, he’s considered one of the best guitar players in all of music. Add to that Paisley is quite the artist and concert-goers will get to see it.
“When he gets to those video wall screens and sometimes there’s this animation that sort of has a South Park’ish look to it, he actually creates all that animation himself,” explained Egan.
Paisley’s a hot ticket in any city he plays but Egan stressed Saturday’s concert is extra special.
“It’s one thing that you’ve got a local guy, but if the local guy comes through all the time it’s not that big of deal,” said Egan. “It’s been a long time since he’s played here and I think the pent up excitement is there.”
As of Friday morning, there were still a few tickets available.
