MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen unveiled a spring practice depth chart on Sunday, with one rather notable omission.

Freshman Shelton Gibson, a four-star receiver who was the highest-rated recruit in WVU’s 2013 class, was missing amid reports he spent last season as a partial qualifier. Gibson was viewed practicing during preseason camp last August before Holgorsen announced plans to redshirt the prospect from Cleveland Heights, Ohio. As a partial qualifier, Gibson would have been prohibited from practicing once the academic year started, a ban that would stretch through spring semester also.

Let's hope Maurice is as exciting as Amos was.

    What happen to William Crest????

    • Boone Co Miner

Really? your a fan and you don't even know that Crest is still in high school?

      • WVUmarsh

I believe he was refering to the car accident rumor??

The 4th string RB Garrison rushed has ran for over 290 yards in a game as a freshman, so I think he should get a lot of carries this season.

It was against Bowling Green, he didn't do much else through out the season. R. Shell will be the starter come gameday at Atlanta against Bama, with Dreamius as a change of pace back. Buie and Garrison will rotate in at the slot position and will be more productive than Squirt.

The only reason Paul Millard is listed first at QB on the depth chart is because he has the longest amount of time in Holgorsen's offense, and should know it the best. This is Millard's 4th season in this offense, compared to Trickett, Moore and McPherson are in their 2nd Season, and Moore worked out last year as receiver. Basically this is Moore's first time in the QB competition.

All the other positions look as I'd suspect except Daryl Worley proved himself last year to be the starter. The rest of the No. 1s have more experience at WVU and have been on the team longer.

The only reason Millard is listed as the number one quarterback, if you'd read, is because Trickett has that nice little "(injured)" right beside his name. Otherwise he would, in all certainty, be the number one guy. He ran the offense the best, showed a stupid amount of guts playing with a sprained AC joint (very painful, speaking from experience) and torn labrum every game after the OKST game. Having that year in the system, and Millard showing in his time last year that he just isn't all that good, means Trickett is on the inside track, as soon as he gets healthy.

Don't be surprised if Skylar Howard emerges as the front runner. He has a great rapport with his receivers.

I'm surprised Buie hasn't switched to slot receiver, I can't picture him getting many snaps this year at RB. Also glad they can finally switch Joseph to SS.

aside from missing a year of competition , even if just on the practice field , Mr Gibson should come out of this forced 'exile' much more versed and prepared in the classroom . . . if he loves the game , he should be chomping at the bit to hit the field with his 'brothers' and shed some of their opponents blood . . .
