Washington No. 1 in final edition of MetroNews Power Index

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Washington (21-0) finishes the year as the top ranked team in the final edition of the MetroNews Power Index for boys high school basketball, released on Wednesday.

The Patriots are followed by South Charleston (21-1) at No. 2, Woodrow Wilson (18-4) No. 3, George Washington (17-5) No. 4 and Hedgesville (16-4) No. 5.

Robert C. Byrd (19-0) is the highest Class AA team at No. 7, with Tug Valley jumping over St. Joseph Central for the top spot in Class A at No. 29.

The MetroNews Power Index is a computer based formula that factors in strength of schedule. Records listed are for games played through just the end of the regular season.
